Today I accidentally remembered that staryu and starmie exist, and honestly, I hope they never make another pokemon again like this.
No eyes, no mouth, completely devoid of all emotion. It's really important that any pokemon can give some kind of attachment factor for anyone, but it's really hard to do that if it looks no different from an item. I mean sure, we have pokemon like dhelmise, carbink, and the bramblin line, but at least those pokemon have something that resembles a face. I can see someone getting attached to any of those, but the staryu line? Nope. It's just a fucking light-up boomerang.
I have absolutely no idea who can look at this and think "yeah that's always been my favorite. So full of personality!" You just can't do that here.
