>>52526175>Gym leaders and trainers Tera into different types instead of that they are specializing in (Sorry Sudowoodo).no, I actually agree with what they did, I just wish they used it better.
the one that really impressed me because it caught me off guard was Iono. Charge beam mismagius, abusing levitate to protect from ground, and other mismagius coverage to deal with anything else. I legit lost to her first time because I didn't have an answer and was doing no-items, so I couldn't heal or revive. Only loss my entire run.
Another good one was Larry's Staraptor, because he's the only one that used it for a STAB power boost rather than a type change.
And then Brassius's was both thematic, and it gives STAB coverage against fire, bug, and flying moves to his team of grassmon. I would have given it stone edge instead since it's a remember move. Maybe bulldoze for poison types and hammer arm for ice too. But it's there conceptually.
i feel like the gyms should be teaching how to best use the mechanic through demonstration.
Brassius's says "you can use a mon's original type to provide protection to its tera type"
Iono's says "hey, sometimes type changes and abilities interact in synergistic ways."
Larry's says "hey don't forget, you don't HAVE to change type. Sometimes the STAB boost is better"
But the teddyursa? Brings nothing to that team. I get that it's the first gym, but surely something.
Crabominable? grass coverage I guess, EXCEPT IT DOESN'T HAVE AN ICE MOVE. THEN THEY GAVE IT IRON FIST AND NO PUNCHES. IT LITERALLY GETS ICE PUNCH ON EVOLUTION. THIS MAN HAD TO MAKE HIS CRAB UNLEARN ICE PUNCH TO ONLY HAVE 3 MOVES.
Toxtricity, eh its thematic and good in doubles, and discharge can para, so stab hex. But I feel like the rest of her team should have had willowisp and t-wave, ice fang on dog, and it should have had toxic.
Florges is a dark counter I guess? Pretty meh.
Altaria, no idea why it doesn't have earthquake. No idea why it's an Altaria.
