I’m always conflicted. Gen II is my favorite so Slowking is special to me and I do really like the execution and design, but I’ve always also felt that Slowpoke getting super smart gets too far away from what makes him so charming in the first place.

It's the perfect Pokemon. It's not based on any particular animal but still has a memorable design. It doesn't need a clever pun name, just a simple word that captures its chill personality. It hangs out on riverbanks and fishes all day. If it lands a big catch, it evolves. I love Slowpoke like you wouldn't believe.

This too. I hate trade evos. My autism makes me feel bad trading away my bro even if I’m trading it right back I just think about Slowpoke feeling sad. But on the other hand maybe he’s too slow to realize before he’s been traded back.

Probably my favorite thing about him. I love a simple strong design that isn’t animal + element. I also love that his evolutions are perfect lore and mechanical representations of evolution in Pokémon.

Idk I think Slowpoke has actually been the perfect torchbearer for every new mechanic he’s been a part of just in the way they’ve managed to make the new mechanics work so perfectly with the logic of the shellder influenced evolutions. It’s been such a cool well of potential. I do agree we’re long passed due a detached Shellder form and just more interaction and relation to actual Shellder and Cloyster outside Pokédex entries. We could literally get rid of the stupid trade stipulation for King and just require a Shellder above Slowpoke in the party or battling a Shellder with King’s Rock held

Their bulk and their decently diverse moveset.
Especially love the Galarian pokes. The idea of G. Slowbro just having a gun is rather funny they learn some surprising things

For me, its Slowbro. Playing Unite made me go from utter indifference to total adoration. The others are cool but Slowbro has it all figured out, man. I especially love that one animation from Stadium where when Slowbro does a physical attack, it stalls for a second, then the Shellder bites down, which gets the Slowbro to charge after jumping in shock.
