I find that just doing mobs one by one with autobattles works better than running around
mostly cause the spawns are weird in that cave and can spawn things outside of your sandwich, especially the dogs which come in packs

Has anyone made a guide for sandwiches for sizes? I was able to get a normal 2 humongous but only a flying 1 teeny and I feel like the teeny didn't help at all. Feel like getting shines in certain sizes is hard even when using outbreaks

Herbs are only for shiny and title IIRC, you should be able to make what you need. Talk to picnic people in the world and the dude near the counter of (some) sandwich shops to get recipes as you progress through the game.

All fish are horror fish except maybe Luvdisc since they seem to actually swim on the surface most of the time, and Magikarp because it thinks it's a terrestrial pokemon.

I don't think the others are nearly as bad, whether it be because they're a lot bigger or their shinies are easy to notice without having aggro behaviour. Tatsugiri especially is easy since it can go on land and dragon typing gives it little sandwich competition, only problem there is getting all three which I lucked out on.

Maybe my vision is shit (or having not seen the shinies for 99% of pokemon before SV came out) but I find the underwater ones really hard to discern. I have that problem with weird lighting conditions too, I've probably stopped twenty times because I saw a pokemon that looked an odd color and it was just the time of day.

The only way for you to know other than observing and recognising, is to send out a pokemon to auto-battle. They won't KO shinies.

Note sometimes you need to add vinegear and sometimes you can mix and match herbs while adding more rice

Can someone explain how to get certain Pokemon on outbreak resets? All I understand is that the position you reset in affects what Pokemon spawn, but I'm mostly getting the same few Pokemon with some minor differences.

You can’t get sprigatito in a luxury ball. The rule is female passes down ball unless it’s two of the same species, then it’s 50/50. Since there are no wild Sprigatito to catch in a luxury ball you can never get it in one.

I used 2 of my 7 herbs to hunt for Tatsugiri and only found 1 regular orange shiny (which are the common ones). Should I reset and try getting a white or yellow-striped shiny? Honestly the shiny charm is a little fucking ridiculous. Since I got it like four days ago I've found three shinies from just walking around.

I've always been a bit on-the-fence about the whole shiny value decreasing argument (it has been decreasing but it hasn't bothered me) but it really has been trivialized a fair bit.

It's less about the charm and more about the nature of the game itself. The games generate new Pokemon so quickly that the odds of finding shinier are just way higher, even if the calculation is the same.

It's both really. The base rate feels fine, it's not so common that it's ridiculous, but with the nature of the game, it's more common if specifically pay attention.

The mixture of the nature of the game AND the shiny charm results in it being ridiculously common. I found the Forretress in that pic while just walking around, no sandwich active. 1/1400 is kind of insane when it's common to just insta-generate 10 mons at a time while not even trying. It's a WORLD of difference compared to before where you had to deliberately enter combat.

I don't mind it, they're still cool, but now it's make me want other cool rare things (which I guess is what marks are meant to be?)

You actually can. You won't be able to see each other in Area Zero, but as long as you're near them their version Pokemon will spawn in a Union Circle. I did this to catch a couple Paradox Hydreigon on Scarlet.

Yeah, I realized after typing that that Shiny hunting would probably be harder than just catching them. Especially for Scream Tail, since unlike Flutter Mane it doesn't have an exploit and it's not as noticeable as a shiny.

Had an incredibly lucky sandwich. Had a larvitar outbreak, but not a lot of time so popped a sandwich. Took a few minutes but found him. With all that time left I decided I'd hunt a Klawf. The blue crab was just waiting for me as soon as I flew in a walked a few feet in. Then with about fifteen minutes left I wanted a stonjourner and ended up with two, one with an anxious mark.

Theoretically 6 noodles + salt + peanut butter should make an Electric Encounter Lv2 sandwich. Unfortunately only the herbs allow you to get a duplicate type between abilities on your sandwiches and should usually be Title at one herb and if not, Sparkling, and of course 2 herbs will give you both, but not guarantee the third ability, so stick to this chart >>52541479 for 3x stuff.

I am working on another chart for other sandwich discoveries that could be useful for outbreak shiny hunts at the moment for things like Humungo or Teensy+Sparkle/Title if that interests anyone.

Yes, and I'm in the process of cloning a full stack of everything else I could possibly need, as I have discovered a program that lets you spoof a controller and run macros from a Bluetooth dongle. It drops some inputs (or SV eats them in the boxes? Never happens in the main menu) but I think I've made the script relatively resilient, and it can do about one item every 45 seconds - not the speediest, but it is so much better than doing it manually. NXBT is the name if anyone wants to try it themselves, but the setup and program itself are both very shit. Excuse the awful phone footage, but if anyone's interested I can give the macro that's working for me

No, I mean where you could extract the seed for raids, find a shiny in the seed then skip your system to that raid date, then re-host it endlessly for the world, they encrypted the shiny seed generation to uncrackable levels. Camping basically refreshes spawns so once you hit 60~ KOs in an outbreak you can just open and close the camp until a shiny is rolled. Shiny sandwiches are probably a waste for outbreaks imo unless you want a Three segment Dudunsparce or you're mark-hunting.

If I change my system clock to cycle outbreaks, is that the actual outbreak I would have gotten that day? Cause oh boy, I got some real shitters coming up. Best one I saw was a Dragonair outbreak... and it spawned on land so it didn't actually spawn.

Attaching to that, I've found some recipes for Humungo that can use 2 random Herbas with some exceptions, but Teensy REQUIRES at least one Sour Herba, so if you ever consider shiny hunting teensies with a sandwich, be warned that you will need those herbs.
There simply isn't any way to outweigh the flavor bonuses of any sandwich with the sour ingredients, and there isn't a single +Teensy ingredient unlike Humungo which has 3 useful ingredients. Seasonings at their absolute best cannot add enough +Teensy.

Does the sandwich boost stack with the outbreak boost for shiny pokemon? I remember reading that "natural spawns" that you kill don't count for the outbreak kill count so would sandwich encounters boost the natural rates over the outbreak rates?

Weird, I get Dratini and Dragonair very frequently.

Going off the responses I think there's a set list of ultra common outbreaks, and then maybe two or three that are common for your save file only. Makes me wonder if we can set something up and have players open their worlds for their common outbreaks for others to hunt, i.e if someone here commonly gets Petilil, I could crash their world for a quick hunt in a good location while I open up if someone is looking for Dratini or Sinistea or whatever.

Just an idea, iunno.
