I hate that they introduce really amazing characters each gen but they get trapped in their respective games and never appear again. So many that could be further fleshed out or used in varied ways, some even have background lore that if further explored could end up being a great story on its own, but no, at most they'll have a one off in the anime and it's just to go "Wow, you're so strong! Can't believe you beat me!" and that's it.
