>>52562137For one, his design is simple and believable instead of cartoonishly over-the-top the way they usually are in this franchise; I always have a hard time taking characters seriously when they all dress like clowns. Second, the dude's relatable - while everyone else you meet seems super over-the-top ecstatic abut battling (even though they all state they prefer their real jobs to their gym ones), Larry doesn't bother to fake like he's enjoying having to deal with stupid kids on a daily basis (most of who fail horribly against him and the others) - it's just a job, he wants to put in his hours and be done with it. In fact, there's even a meta joke there when he gives you his Facade TM, while the others keep up their actual facades at all times around challengers.
>>52562203>anyone who thinks he's "realistic" is a child who has never actually had a jobI work two jobs, and am very much in the 'I hate Mondays' club. Like Larry, I just want shit to be over and done with so I can come home, eat some dinner, watch some TV, then sleep for about 3 hours before starting my other job; hell, I'm phoneposting right now because I literally don't have the time to sit in front of a computer. If this were the Pokemon world and part of my job were being a gym leader, you could bet your shit I'd be in the same boat.
I'm guessing you're the actual child here who hasn't actually experienced the real world yet. It ain't fun, nobody cares if they work you into the ground and burn you out, and no matter how many hours you work or how many jobs you have, you will NEVER make enough to actually enjoy life unless you were born into money; the best you can do is delude yourself into believing that your current existence is 'okay' and that you're 'living comfortably' because others 'have it worse than you'.
