It has its issues, but it's still leagues above BDSP. Having an HM slave does complicate things, and that was the generation where you had to have a shitton of HMs to get through certain areas. Overall, I still prefer it over the remakes and I can't be bothered to spend RL money on something that offers you less than the original.

Unlike most people i don't have problems with HMs. I think they make sense in a adventure. The easy fix is being able to make your pokémon to forget them as easily as to teach a TM. But players and game freak is retarded so we will have clown suits, miraidons and slave wild bidoofs instead of using our bros.

You've got it backwards. If sacrificing a slot (either a move or a Pokemon) for an HM is all it took for your team to falter against the AI, then it wasn't a good team anyway.

i never said that. the fact is, hms objectively limit how you can build your team by forcing you to use certain moves no matter what. it doesn't make the game that much harder, but it does make it much less fun. i would like to be able to both use all 6 party slots and all 4 move slots on each mon. not be forced to choose between the two.

What do you mean? Your starter can learn rock climb and cut/ rock smash. Most flying types learn fly and defog and water types all get waterfall and surf. Even fucking Weavile can learn surf.

You need Rock Smash to get past the electric gym and Surf, Dive, and Waterfall just to finish the game. On top of that, the region itself is worse in every single way.

I'm 30, my first game was Blue during pokemania, gen 4 is still the best gen. Gen 3 nearly killed my interest in the franchise, then gen 4 brought me back before gen 5 put me off of it until 2018 when I played Y, immediately after which I dropped the franchise like a sack of potatoes because I played gen 7 which is absolutely the lowest point in the franchise.

in other rpgs change equipment and abilities would be a minor hassle in the menu but in pokemon you have to fly back to a specific town to unlearn a move, get a heart scale (which you need to farm luvdisc for) or tm to refill the empty slot, then get another mon with that hm you just deleted if you need it to get to some other area

HM slaves make the game better to play anyway because there's more EXP to go around for your battling mons, it almost feels like Gens 3/4 were designed around you having dedicated HM slaves but I don't have anything to prove that
My main gripe with DPPT is just how dogshit the new designs are and a lot of the returning old mons aren't that noteworthy themselves

Instead of doing that, just make HMs let any pokemon that can learn those moves use those moves on the overworld. No swapping necessary. If you use the HM you teach them the battle move.

I like HMs because of the feeling of using your Pokemon to solve a problem or help you explore.
