It's all implications that's more obvious in Japanese because Japanese is the language of meaning in stuff unsaid but the general gist is this:
They have opposing views in terms of what they value and set out to achieve, with Geeta valuing talent, strength and ambition, and rewarding/encouraging those with it. Larry, by contrast, is satisfied and content with a completely average life, and doesn't think much of what is "exceptional" or "bizarre".
They treat each other somewhat paradoxically, as Larry, despite clearly complaining about her and the work she puts on him, never actually fights the roles she gives and isn't even particularly bitter about it like Grusha is, he seems more resigned or apathetic about it. Geeta clearly overworks him, and has the most negative reaction if you answer Larry in the questions she asks about the gym leaders, but she also gives him way more responsibility than almost anyone else in the game aside from possibly Rika. The double job of Elite 4 and Gym Leader is one thing, but he's also specifically the gym leader of the town closest to the Zero Gate, meaning he likely is in charge of guarding that too.
It's these two contrasting facts of the characters themselves, along with several other implications like Larry being the only gym leader Geeta doesn't refer to with a "-san" (in Japanese), Geeta specifically telling him to use flying types because she wants him to "walk down other paths instead of the same old he's used to" (as well as the symbolic meaning of wanting him to "soar"). Geeta talking about Nemona and her friendship with you with an understanding that seems to be TOO understanding (implying she has the same problem Nemona has), and Larry's general familiarity with her and her mannerisms that leads to multiple different interpretations of their relationship. It's honestly fascinating
