Being immune to permanent Sandstorm damage, having the highest speed stat of any viable Pokemon, and the new addition of Choice Band (before strong defensive options caught up with the blatant powercreep) let it be an amazing revenge killer in a meta where the concept of revenge killing was just coming into its own.
>TerrakionRock/Fighting is genuinely good offensively. If Rock weren't such a terrible type and had actually good moves, Terrakion would be an OU staple to this day. Its stats are broken, it's hard to resist defensively, and it gets Swords Dance to pump up its number even higher. And yet it's languished in obscurity ever since Gen 5 ended.
