>>52585167For me, I didn't care much about genders for gens 1-5. But then in XY, when they introduced that Pokemon Amie stuff, I began using only female pokemon. Do you remember that male Mega Lucario that Korrina gives you ingame?
I tried having it on my team for a while. But when I did the Amie stuff with Lucario, it felt just weird. I was petting a male, handfeeding it, and infantilizing it. It just didn't feel like a masculine badass anymore when it loves you and girly pink hearts float above his head. Just seemed really faggy.
Petting is fine with me if it's a cute girl though. Like giving headpats to my female Braixen and seeing those pink hearts as she falls in love with her trainer. Gen 6's pokemon amie, Gen 7's pokemon refresh, Gen 8's pokemon camp, and now Gen 9's pokemon picnics. It's all the same.
If I'm going to do these cutesy bonding stuff with my pokemon, I'd rather it be with females instead of males.
