I know they’ve done it in the past… some in cool ways like with Kyurem and others, in less inspired ways like Calyrex.

It seems imminent for some reason.

How are they gonna implement this?

Is this a good idea?

Personally, I don’t like this concept only because I think Gf is gonna bomb it

The problem is that by it's nature, fusions would have to be specific to the pairing or else looking like ass. Given how the last three gimmicks have applied to pokemon more broadly, I don't see how they could really pull it off.

even if it weren't game freak we were talking about i don't think it would be worth the investment

Gamefreak is too lazy, which IVs and EVs get transferred, what if one is shiny or both, seems like too much coding for them for few Pokemon that would have those abilities.

it's too anti-natural as a concept to ever be a thing outside of a select few pokemon. this franchise intended for children will never be able to do frankenstein freak shit that's even mildly unsettling.

There are the Galarian fossils, but I highly doubt Gamefreak will let you saw a Charizard in half and stick the upper part of a Pikachu on its legs, and that's about the only way they could remotely try and mix and match existing designs while making use of existing models.

Literally have one Pokemon be the absorber and one be the absorbed. Both Pokemon appear on screen like Tandemaus with the absorbed one semitransparent or some shit. Absorber keeps its HP stat and ability while all other stats are averaged out. Type is the primary type of both mons. So Shedinja absorbs Metagross and becomes a 1 HP Bug/Steel with better offensive stats. Blissey + Shuckle becomes something unholy.

Then they'd have their special snowflake real fusions with specific designs like Lucario + Charizard or Metagross + Salamence.

If they want to include all they will find a way to do it.

That would require one of two things; Mandatory double battles or a way to make it work in singles. Also, they would have to make it so that pokemon included in the dex would have some kind of fusion. Knowing GF, they would most likely go the lazy route and just make it certain pokemon like they did with Megas.
