The paradox title doesn't make sense with either theory. Even with time travel there's nothing paradoxical about them coming through a time portal. It's only a paradox if their coming through the time portal is somehow responsible for their existence in the first place or something.

No? If they're created from the imagination then they just exist, they're fake pokemon sure but they're still real. There's nothing contradictory about that for it to be a paradox.

They existed during the Great Area Zero Expedition and were documented in the Scarlet/Violet Book, which inspired Sada/Turo to build the Time Machine to bring them into the present day. But if those Pokemon are truly from the past/future, then they couldn't have existed during the Great Area Zero Expedition because they were only at earliest brought to the present day by Sada/Turo, hence "Paradox" Pokemon.

Correct, but it's a paradox according to the in-game narrative. The Pokedex isn't objective. They are called "Paradox Pokemon" based on the limited understanding of the characters in the game.

Yes? By "in-game narrative" I mean the text narrative, time travel, the narrative understood by the characters, not the subtext (imagination).

Maybe the time machine doesn't actually work, and instead creates the Pokémon using imagination of the professor? Since they match the descriptions read about in the Scarlet/Violet book. The book's contents might have been completely made up from the start.

They showed up in the crater before Arven's parents even made the Time Machine, which is the paradox. Arven himself points this out to you - if they travelled through time, they shouldn't be showing up before the means of travelling through time had been built, hence 'Paradox'.

You're equating the idea of a paradox with any issue but by definition a paradox is based in contradiction.
If there's no contradiction there's no paradox.

With this silly imagination theory there are no paradoxes, just plotholes.
