its really strange how she gives off the slight obsessive stalker psycho over possessive girlfriend sorta vibe. Its played out in the story that she has no friends or something, yet she's class president, a Pokémon champion, and the daughter of Pokémon steve jobs. I get she wants a true rival for her passion in Pokémon battles, but you'd think she has more people who like her enough to try to fill that roll, considering she won the biggest popularity contest of her school filled with people who like to battle Pokémon.

Because she's a girl in a pokemon game and that's literally it. Same reason everyone went apeshit over Lillie and Marnie who are incredibly mediocre from a character writing standpoint
They're basically carried by the overwhelming popularity of the pokemon franchise itself despite being pretty basic characters

I don't really know how to feel about her because she's a combination of my best friend but also the person who ruined my life. My best friend being this overly energetic, supportive, almost rival but in good fun kind of person who I can trust with literally anything and everything, but this other person being an obsessive stalker who wouldn't let me be with anyone else and wanted me exclusively, pretending to be my best friend while hitting me whenever I "dared" be with anyone else.
Basically I love how supportive and nice she is but the stalking and being like "You can battle me and only me forever" thing is fucking sour.
