Alder's problem is he gets fucked over hard by Fire/Rock types.
I'm pretty sure if you gave him non-Unova pokemon he'd be better.

Volcarona is such an amazing pokemon aswell. Crazy how bad his is. Stupid bitch actually put hyper beam on it instead of Giga Drain. No wonder he's homeless. He can't beat any trainers to pay rent.

Even if he he is the champion post game I never really saw him as a legit champion because you fight N after beating the E4 and he has already lost to someone so while he remains champion on a technicality I'd rather someone else have taken the slot while he is another fight somewhere else.

Geeta's team isn't great but the simple fact that swapping Glimmora to first pokemon and Kingambit to last fixes the glaring obvious issue with her team. Still a meh champion after swapping her order around but has potential as a character if the DLC adds on her relationship with the other characters

Alder's whole deal is that he's old and busted and learning that there's more to life than just battling, that's why he tries to show Cheren that it can just be fun to hang out with Pokemon and why you see him in the not-Trainer's School in BW2. It makes sense lorewise. We are constantly told he's way past his prime and he stopped having pokémon battles a long time ago. He just starts training a game shortly before battling N, so he's not at full power

He's surprisingly, hard.
>Accelgor outspeeds you and deals heavy damage
>Bouffalant tanks and deals heavy damage
>Druddigon has Outrage which does - you guessed it - heavy damage
>Vanilluxe deals heavy damage when Blizzard hits
>Escavalier has an extremely good typing and deals quite heavy damage too
>Volcarona is self-explanatory, albeit Overheat was a dumb decision for an opponent who can't switch because afterwards it's crippled

Maybe if you have a team full of Grass types, which his team counters in just about every way.

I just don't get why they gave him 5 shitmons and a Volcarona with a terrible moveset when the likes of N and Ghetsis were able to be given decent parties. You'd think the round 2 final opponent in the Pokemon League would be harder than the first.

Accelgor is fairly decent. It and Volcarona are the best selections on the team by far.

The Druddigon moveset isn’t bad outside of payback honestly. Fighting/Dark and Fighting/Dragon were disgustingly good pairs of types in gen 5, which probably prompted Fairy’s resistance setup a gen later. Outrage spam was nothing to sneeze at, even coming off of something like that.
