I absolutely loathed dynamax & Z-moves, but it's actually pretty satisfying to tera normal when your opponent uses a ghost move or vice versa with immunities. It's so much fun defensively, I'm surprised.

Honestly they've peaked with tera types. It's a simple mechanic that can be used by any Pokemon, doesn't waste a held item slot and simply changes the type of a Pokemon without giving it any additional defensive buffs or stupidly OP moves. It's the best battle mechanic they've come up with since abilities in gen 3. Whatever they replace it with in gen 10 will be worse.

Z moves use an item slot and if your Pokemon holding a Z-crystal gets KO'd without you using it then you're at a massive disadvantage (unless you decide to run multiple Pokemon with Z-crystals, in which case all but one of them will have a wasted item slot). Tera is far more versatile and synergises better with the core battle system.

It's definitely BETTER than Z moves or Dynamax but it still has its issues.

I like the offensive and defensive utility it provides but I have issue with "random" teras that serve just to punch free holes by being literally unpredictable.

Instead of banning it smogon should just restrict it but unfortunately they are far too autistic for that.

Imo terastallization needing a held item would really balance the randomness and unpredictability of the mechanic. Also, changing your defensive typing while keeping your stab types in exchange of item? That is still a good trade off. I was thinking the same with Dynamax too.

All of their proposed restrictions are shit and will barely help, but they are trying.

I agree, this shit is just Z move but the entire fucking mon. You aren't getting stab if you have no moves of that Tera so its the same fucking gimmick as Z moves in which any you do gets a super stab. A clinch win by using something that your opponent couldn't read in time and considering you faggots have no variance in your Tera types, it makes it exactly along the same vein as Z moves in which someone can probably figure out what your sorry ass will Tera into after a few matches.

This, you lose your Tera mon and that's it. Personally Tera should take the butchered lore of Megas where changing your your mons type to something different actually hurts them and can reflect in lower PP, acc, or even shaving off HP.

I agree. Atleast Dynamax if I lost it then I could be screwed because its essentially a giant nuke and most mons couldnt take down a dmaxed mon by itself if it wasnt dmaxed itself and most were simply just sweepers or walls, people didnt Gmax or Dmax to pull off gimmick shit like Tera and Z moves.

this which is why I hate gimmick generations because the first week it'll be fun and then the meta faggots will come and trick ppl into running the same sets over and over so that you can easily tell what some idiot is gonna do via team preview
