Objectively bigger dex is better, but personally I don't care about it that much, because I always want to immerse more with particular regions by using mons introduced in them. Following pokemon more important than bigger dex? No. But it's worth pointing that LGPE does following pokemon excellently, far better than SwSh, BDSP and SV.
Nice that you point out battle area, because again, Platinum with the same bigger dex has also whole Battle Frontier. So unless you wank to that level 100 Giratina like that retard above, its obvious which version is better.
