SV does a better job making the transition smoother. but PLA almost downright perfects it. battles are quick and snappy while you can also run to your next destination and not even bother looking at the battle happening behind you. the only thing that really sets apart pokemon from other rpgs is basically huge options of team-building but the actual pokemon units themselves only having an ability and 4 options for moves at a time is still a bit limited. look over at persona where it's also about collecting units you can use but you can mix and match attacking moves, passive skills, statuses, etc. etc.
