On the other hand you have things like the Walking Dead, where you typically need to die with your brain intact to become a shambling corpse.
This would, without copious idiot plots, be so completely fine in the Pokeverse it's unreal; The raw friendship focus Pokemon has is basically the antithesis of what the Walking Dead is built to critique.
