If we HAVE to cut pokemon because there are too many, this thread is for deleting forgettable pokemon, filler pokemon, and pokemon that have zero niche in battle that sets them apart.

Maybe if they had to have a parrot pokemon, they could have had a good one. Or just brought back chatot. Or not introduce a generic parrot the same generation they introduce like 48 other new bird pokemon.

I think all new Pokemon should have a reason to exist, and most of the time they manage it by giving them a signature move, ability or unique typing.
Wugtrio and Spidops are borderline useless but have signature moves. Lokix has a signature type and a killer movepool. Bombirdier has a great movepool despite its Gen I stat distribution.

But Squawkabilly?
>Staraptor has Intimidate
>Braviary and Toucannon have Sheer Force
>Swellow has Guts
>all of them have better stats and movepools than Squakabilly

With better stats and a physical normal move that never misses it could have had a niche. But at this point in the franchise there's no point introducing Normal/Flying types unless they're high a BST support Pokemon/tank ( Mandibuzz stats) or special attacker. All the physical niches are filled.

It's not about "my taste", more so than what I think would fit the role they serve in the franchise and series. The more you try to be "gimmicky and special" the more boring and useless you are.
I would prefer if "legendary" Pokémon stayed as legendaries, and Pokémon like Wailord are unable to be used by the regular person (Make the champion of Hoenn have a Wailord, for example, and give it is actual HUMONGOUS size)

I don't know why people think there's any acutal curating done, GF clearly just throws shit on a wall when it comes to what Pokemon get in, not like popularity, balance or relevance to a region matters, they're just setting an arbitrary number on the regional dex so they can sell the missing mons back in DLC.

I think Squawkabilly is basically just for Living Dex Form Collection Autism, like Unown,Furfrou and Vivillion. Basically less to fill a combat gameplay function and more a collection gameplay function.
