they're probably going to be the next Ash so when Gen 10 comes around it'd be weird to see Florian/Juliana still being used. Though I guess that didn't stop them from using Brock all the way through Sinnoh. Still though, with probably the worst MC designs, to be the ones they decide to finally use after 3 gens, let alone for multiple gens that'd be a huge fuck you to people who wanted Selene and Gloria. No one cares about Elio and Victor beyond a means of self insertion

They're clearly wanting to have this MC carry over into multiple regions, so they're not gonna pick someone specifically from this region- especially someone who can actually hit champion like Nemona.
Of COURSE they're making a new underdog who's easily transferrable to any region. It's the correct choice for marketing, and you should know by now that's all they care about.
