Mr. Mime fucking dies in this series and as a result of it Ash's mom ends up telling Ash that his dad has been dead for a long time. it's pretty weird.
most of the series revolves around team rocket, brock, misty and general nostalgia pandering.
this dumb little story about mr mime dying is the only thing that actually involves ash at all. I don't think they even show a flashback of ash's dad or anything
