I was thinking about Ash's team when he eventually returns as a secondary (mentory?) character and I realized I couldn't tell which one was his true regional ace in the seventh gen anime.

>AG has Sceptile
>DP has Infernape
>BW has Krookodile
>XY has Greninja
>PM has Lucario
So which one is SM's true representative for him? Lycanroc? Melmetal? And which one of his aces is scrapped for Ash's ultimate team? And why is it Krookodile?

Ash's ultimate team wouldn't just be his aces. It'd be the best Pokemon that fulfilled certain roles. For example, Ash would absolutely have a flying type.

Lycanroc. But Alola did represent all of his mons as equals, that's one of the reasns why Alola arc is the best one by far.

It's Greninja, lol. Tho with Ash-Greninja being replaced and Lucario getting its place as Pokemon in synch with Ash one can ignore it and put here Goodra or some shit.

One is a special cool awesome form created for Anime, other is super special cool awesome Mythical. Both played big role in Ash's SM team so pick your poison. One can even make some bullshit story to give Melmetal its Gigantamax form.

2 Mega users, at least 1 Z-Move users, 2 Gigantamax users if we pick Melelelelemetal, Some miscelanious BS. Seems good. One can argue about random stuff like Snorlax or Heracross but it's hard to fit them between Ash's true aces.

For SM, it's hard to pick since it's one of the few series where every member of his team gets equal spotlight and there's no one particular shillmon. However, overall Lycanroc would probably count as his SM ace as it not only is a unique form, but also gave Ash his first league victory and was also the Pokémon he used in his last battle in the series (against Kiawe). And also Lycanroc's arc of getting used to it's anger and harnessing it's power together with Ash is of course special

The reason for Zard not being in JN is because Ash vs Leon is meant to serve as a parallel to Ash vs Ritchie. He's on the front of the post and both anime specials lean in heavily on OS nostalgia, so Ash may use his Charizard more often.
