>>52671218I think it would have hurt less had they done it sooner, more consistently between gens, and/or at least given us a really satisfying ending to Ash’s journey. He stayed the same immature brat the entire way, and didn’t seem to ever progress professionally until they forced the fuck out of it since Sun/Moon, which wasn’t relatively that long ago. Now, they have him smash all of the best champions and then just end on the spot with him being a kid, and it kinda just leaves me feeling empty. I would have liked to see his story and journey unfold in a bit more complex and satisfying way.
Seeing him just suddenly win a championship and then kick back with pikachu as a 10 year old and be like yep we made it bro, just feels awkward to me idk even if they end it on a huge time skip. So many side characters to address and cameo, so many missed opportunities plot-wise, so many adventures to be had, but they kinda blew it all on just hundreds and hundreds of episodes with nothing really happening.
