>>52675135Conceptually I like it. relicmon tend to be some of my favorites.
Executionwise, it's disappointment almost to the point of disgust.
>>52675201It bugs me though how much this helps fix it. It still only gets it to like a 60 for me, but that's still a massive improvement and I can't articulate why.
I think my favorite is Claydol. It's clearly inspired by a dogū, but it's also not JUST a shakōki-dogū, if anything they found a way to make it feel even weirder.
Pokemon universe should feel like Ancient Alien Theory might actually be true. It's not, unless you count Clefairy and Elgyem and such, but there's still explicitly a lot of freaky shit, some of it expressly magical in ways that haven't been rediscovered by Pokemon's otherwise impressively advanced science, it should feel... Odd.
I can do this even with ones that aren't my favorite.
Bronzor is just a mirror, but seemingly are grave goods come to life, and not only that but psychic, and as a bell it alters the weather and allegedly opens portals to other worlds.
Sigilyph, eh, is visually a trainwreck, but isn't a carbon copy of a specific Nazca line and could honestly pass for an ultra beast, it's psychic in fact has to use TK to fly because its wings are nonfunctional sticks, and it mindlessly flies a patrol pattern like some kind of drone.
Nosepass is a maoi head statue, but reductively stylized so it's only a resemblance, also ambulatory but prefers to stand stationary, and unusually magnetic, in fact so magnetic it uses it to hunt while standing motionless.
Stonjourner.... Is literally just a Stonehenge arch with a smiley face and fucky little unrelated arms. Its typing? Sorry dude, it's still just a rock. Dex entries? They stare at the sun and on the summer solstice they form Stonehenge. You know, because that's what Stonehenge does, mark the summer solstice. Ability? Power Spot, the newagey concept that it's built on a leyline. Druids? What's a druid?
It feels so forced. So uninspired.
