This was such a badass team back in the day. Literally no-one in my class knew how to get a Dratini or an Aerodactyl, so getting to this boss fight was incredible and the fact that no Fire, Water, Grass or Electric type moves worked (the 4 main types that every kid wanted to use) made the fight legitimately hard at the time.

This was back in the days when Dragonite literally was the only Dragon type. The closest Lance could get was to just have "dragon-looking" mons in his team. It was only in Gen III that we started to get more dragon options, but by then Lance was kinda forgotten for the most part.

If hyper beam was bad like gen 2-onwards, this would be trash tier, although Bruno is worse because he has horrible moves and Pokémon, even for gen 1 standards. Especially because he is a fighting type specialist, in a generation where psychic types were literally unstoppable. Game freak knew this because it would be the type to give a Pokémon powerful status.
