johto = literally next to kanto, nothing new to offer, also teamrocket is back, why dont you visit kanto, its fun and totally not being overused or something
hoenn = water region
sinnoh = mountain region
unova = america region, also, go walk in a straight line until the end
kalos = french region, also the one with mega evolutions
alola = hawaii region, also z moves and pokemon from other dimensions
galar = UK, introduced gigantamaxing and dynamaxing, also the leader is a poojeet and his ACE is from KANTOOOO
paldea = spain region, open world game, bugs, and pokemon wear silly crystal heads, also some machine made pokemons by imagining how they would look in the past and future
tl;dr: johto has nothing special to offer and has no gimmick
