I find the imagination angle more interesting, but it's silly to think time travel is too farfetched for pokemon, there are two time deities, the last game was set in the past, and the most famous kind of paradox is time travel related

One sticking point for me with it is the sketches of the fusion legendaries, which were confirmed to be made up by an in-game artist, but I doubt gamefreak would make those designs and then just not do anything with them.
