It would explain why nearly every new design is so round and lacks hard, "rocky" edges like the first few gens. The company has toy manufacturing in mind first, rather than actual monster design.

Sugimori said in one interview that he hates drawing Venusaur because it's very complex to draw.
some other interview says that Venusaur is very hard to animate because of the leaves and details.

I think this is why they didn't want to evolve Ash's Bulbasaur because it didn't have leaves

Cope. The only remnants of the Nishida design left are the body spots. Venusaur became much less flat and the flower was redesigned, both to look like the Sugimori art. They specifically wanted the final forms of the starters to better resemble what they looked like on the boxart.

Blue came after Sugimori's made the official art.
Nishida's Blue sprite still has Ivysaur's sharp eyes, dark spots, and it looks a proper evolution for Ivysaur giving the features while Sugimori's Venusaur is just a total rip off DB's Zarbon.
Shitimori has no creativity or talent, he just copied Toriyama for the entirety of Gen1 and Gen2 developments
