Do you think it would have been better we followed over trainers and Ash/Satoshi was retired in Johto?

I mean as much as you are opposed to digimon we got different flavors each season and it wasn't the same rehashed shit for the last 25 years.

Honestly, yeah. He should’ve won the Indigo League after his Johto arc and been replaced in Gen 3 with a new protagonist.

Not just trainners I mean formulas altogether.
For digimon there was always a gimmick for each season

Literally every marketable franchise that has "generations" of their products have easily survived the transition from one period to the next.

Look at YuGiOh. While, yes, nostalgia still reigns supreme and the quality hasn't fully maintained over the years, they have no trouble depicting entirely new characters in completely separated stories.

The Pokemon anime would be better served if it didn't have the same generic beats everytime. They should be focusing on the uniqueness of the regions and games even if they don't want a plot with actual themes and metaphors and shit
