Cameos like this are best when they're done with a bit of class, and the PWT is basically the complete opposite of that. It pays no mind to canon or when the games take place. At least in Gen 7 Red and Green are appropriately aged up for their cameos.

Not including Elite 4 members was weird.
It especially made Dark Type Specialist shit because there weren't any Dark Type gym leaders in the series at that point.
Where if they including E4 members you could have had Karen, Sidney, or Grimsley to choose from. Instead of 3 literally whos.

The series would be worse it it cared at all.
Just assume that every game happens at the same time, or immediately after GSC/HGSS.
It doesn't matter. They hardly ever reference each other with any respect given to time.

Just... literally any kind of randomized system where everything is either level 50 or 100 and trainers bring the strongest movesets they can.
Call it whatever you want. Subway, Frontier, I don't give a fuck just bring back any kind of post-game that isn't just shitty raids.

Yes. It was a fun Battle Tower alternative, and I liked that the Champions/Leader Cups were just a short series of hard battles all the time as opposed to the Frontier-style streak system of having to fight a bunch of garbage for an hour and then having to do it again when you lose. I think the only real exception would be the Factory, and therefore I don't enjoy the PWTs factory format as much.

That isn't a problem, its a feature.
Anyone's first pokemon game can be their first pokemon game.
There is no need to play any other game before your new one for context, plot, understanding of elements, etc.
The only exception possible could be GSC, but even that is minor. Gold could easily be your first without much issue.
