Story was shit. And the rivals were horrible. They should've just made it a story light game. They practically did, since after Lysandre kills himself the story just evaporates.

Diamond and Pearl actually had designs that fit in with the rest of the existing designs as cool monsters to adventure with. Kalos is all just anime cartoons.
