>>52731064Your issue is not with art itself but art as an institution: ie, what pieces get elevated for the public and praise and what pieces don't, which is a completely different topic in and of itself. Your disgust for "art" stems from the viewpoint that you think "unworthy" pieces get praised and studied, while pieces you think are more technically developed are laid to the wayside. That's a valid criticism to have, especially as the institution is heavy with it's own biases, especially for people who are already rich or in the "in-group" of existing artists, but is a fundamental misunderstanding of what "art" is.
Art is the means with which you communicate, capture and share your ideas with the word. Stepping outside the realm of visual art, it also means writing, poems, music, oral storytelling, and so much more. Skill may come into question at higher levels, but fundamentally, art encompasses finger painting of a 3 year old, the over-the-top edgy wolf OC of a 13 year old, a beautifully rendered painting of a landscape, and that lewd image of a Meowscarada. It's all art, as it's all a means of communication of the artist. You COULD smash a toilet bowl and call it a metaphor for something and it'd be "art" because that's the means with which you're telling a message, and it's a means you've thought up of as a person. What IS stopping you from doing that and posting it on social media? Or just for yourself? Why don't you create art that you think is fun or meaningful for yourself?
