It was okay, but as always there was too much Kanto pandering ... There's so many interesting Pokemon a movie could've focused on, but no, it's still Mewtwo like 1998. Sure I love Mewtwo, but it felt a bit lazy.
And the Charizard, I hate that realistic design and I hate the usual special treatment it gets.
Some realistic Pokemon were nicely made (like Cubone, Lickitung, Pikachu, Psyduck, Ludicolo, Bulbasaur, Morelull, Torterra ...), but I feel most were not.
Many look too much like plushes and puppets (like Aipom, Sneasel, Pancham and Pangoro, Eevee, Snubbul and its fucked proportions ...) and Charizard is painful to look at. I personally imagine it to have less rougher skin. God, that model looks like it got a basket ball for skin.
Also a small pet peeve that I noticed, there's a scene towards the end where they copy-pasted something like 5 Sneasel in a row in the crowd in the same shot. I get that it is shown for just a couple seconds, but they had enough models at their disposal to avoid such an embarrassing mistake.
The Ditto battle was cool.
