They don't know who their god is. We have both clans that have their own interpretation of Sinnoh, jublife that is made of foreigners that fear pokemon and that don't care about hisui legends that much but need to live with both clans in peace and a time traveler that appeared at same time with the raging noble pokemon. It kinda makes sense why you are suspicious but Kamado was a retard that gave you so many tests and still didn't trust you and that backfired on his ass. One thing i think it's interesting is that the church in DPP and BDSP have the Mt coronet with the space time rift from legends in it. It was never explained what that was but now we know.

More likely that originated as iconography and then when making PLA they decided it could be something plot relevant rather than just a visual depiction of "this place is holy."
