Quick and easy to engage threads that you stay in for a couple of minutes and then leave are not bad by themselves, if the board was only people going on and on with +200 word rants and manifestos then it would get mentally exausting quickly
But /vp/ is ONLY people saying "I like/dislike X" and then people either agree or disagree, and the discussion goes on for like 2 responses (at best) and is full of insults and strawmans, and it ends with neither side having contributed anything worthwile for anybody. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum
It's not something jannies can do about, it can't be fixed even with the smartest of rules, more like it's something the users have upon themselves to change
