The NSO+ one is laughable. The whole game is built around the idea of bringing your own Pokemon from your gen 1-2 cartridges, and they got rid of that so now you can only use rental Pokemon. The rentals all suck, intentionally to encourage you to bring your own. All the strong ones have shit moves and all the ones with decent moves have shit stats.

Just played through Red on Stadium 1 and Crystal on Stadium 2. Beat all the cups and gyms in both Stadium games. Some of the most fun Ive had with Pokemon in a long time. Beating prime cup with rentals only is peak pokemon.

There's a middle ground between "top tier super EV trained god pokemon" and "actual dumpster juice". The enemy trainers all have fully evolved pokemon with good moves, while you have to choose between good moves or full evolution.

It takes a bit of work but any Romhack for gen 1 or 2 that hasnt edited the Pokedex or base stats of any of the Pokemon are completely compatible with these games.

You can playthrough Crystal Clear and then do the battle tower and then do Stadium 2 when youre done with that, or vice versa. Giving it one of the most meaty offerings in the series

Gym Leader Castle is still worth playing.
The gym leaders in the Gen 1/2 gameboy games were really easy and there was no rematch option.
Gym Leader Castle is the closest equivalent that those old gens had for a "harder rematch" option.

They're effectively the postgame of Gen1 and Gen2. If you still have the old Game Boy carts you'll get the most out of these games.

Multiple anons have pointed out how fun it is to mess with your mons after an original RBYGSC cartridge run, my friends and I still occasionally play some rental randomizer matches and it's a ton of fun for my more casual Pokémon friends.

Stadium 2 is basically a straight upgrade. Also used to play the shit out of Stadium 1. Arguably best experience before modern tech was playing your GB games through stadium. iirc it even had a fast mode that let you speed up the games. I had Yellow before I even had a GBC and played it solely on Stadium.

They're quite possibly the best Pokémon games that uses mainline's combat system and offer a complete Pokémon experience for their generations when they have a GB game connected. There's many things in those games that mainline should have adopted, yet still don't do this day like

I know it is a special Pikachu but Gen 8+ common Pikas can learn Surf by TR/TM. Gen 7 gave a Surfing Pika in the Mantine Surf minigame, just wish VC Yellow or Crystal let you teach them Surf so you could transfer those to Bank

I just beat the Kanto Gym Leader Castle today. The only sucky part about Stadium 2 is the Prime Cup because there's no easy way to grind to Level 100 in Crystal.

You're still free to do a rental only challenge on the N64. You just also have the option to use your own Pokemon. You also have the option to battle your own Pokemon against a friend's if you have 2 Transfer Paks.

i think what helps stadium's difficulty is that they force you to use pokemon under a certain level while also restricting the amount of pokemon you have (always 3v3) whereas in mainline games you can do whatever

No, you need to clear R1 entirely for double speed on Gen 2 iirc, and R2 for triple.
The 150 requirement is to move Pokemon between games directly without having to trade.

I just went back & played through gen 1 & 2 & then loaded the teams up on these & had a blast. Extra rare Pokes in Stadium 1's prizes, Move Relearner in 2, both have fun mini-games, 2's library is basically today's Bulbapedia (Egg Groups/Egg Moves/Evolution Methods/Move levels/Move Details/Combos), 2 has exclusive items/decorations from Mystery Gift, A HUGE extra storage for both your mons & items, Picture Mode, Victory Palace, & awesome models/animations. That's all just off the top of my head.
It's still cool seeing your mons go into 3D all these years later, too.
& THE ANOUNCER FUCK I NEARLY FORGOT HOW GREAT HE WAS!

How would you even genuinely make a post like this?
If this is just another Genwun & 2 suck troll, then you need to at least put some more effort than "hurr durr old iz bad"

I'm thinking about playing Stadium and it's sequel again. I wanna stick mostly with rentals but I'll use pokemon from carts as a last resort if I feel like it. What should my team be? I only have Red and Gold for functioning gen 1 and 2 games so no Silver exclusives or Blue exclusives if it's not in Gold.

The actual kicker is that you need to play around with the fact that most fully evolved mons are off the table because they have shit movepools due to their stats, and it's usually first or mid evos with the actual good shit like flamethrower, or proper coverage.
