No thats impossible, as we all know; Ash is vital to the pokemon brand. As shown by him barely being on anime merch at this point; much less actually show up in anime shit.
He got a sudden push for his finale but that does not represent how Ash was treated for awhile now.

Obviously meant non-anime. You won't find merch that isn't super anime skewed that features Ash; which is a far cry from his hay day.
Its incredibly bizarre people seem to think Ash is treated like he was in OS or something? Even SM; the games that made a pretty big push for Ash shilling had a weird lopsided half done case.
During XY-SM they clearly tried to merge anime and games a bit but at the same time started to give up on the fucker.

Want to back that up, cause outside of the Masters 8 shit which was clearly a huge push for him since he was going; i recall a huge decline.
And i actually look at merch quite a bit. He shows up in some anime promotions but even then a lot of anime promotions don't even care to include him.

From what i've seen the general merch is higher in quantity rather than it exactly being more Ash skewed.
