But Smogon prefers precedent and consistency over logic and common sense. They ban things entirely, not just the obviously broken element.
I understand banning Blaziken over Speed Boost because other mons with Speed Boost aren't broken. Sure.
I understand banning Dracovish over Fishious Rend because Arctovish is complete dogshit even with it. Yeah.
And I understand wanting to avoid complex bans, because then you get into slippery slope cases like saying Mega Rayquaza would be fine in PU if it only knows Mud Slap.
But the literal only difference between banning Houndstone and banning Last Respects is that banning Houndstone removes more.
And banning moves isn't unprecedented or too complex, since they've banned shit like Baton Pass and Swagger.
I'm not fundamentally against the concept of banning and understand that in some cases it's necessary to keep the meta balanced, but Smogon is far from infallible.
