Let's Go was probably just a weird one-off thing to cash in on Pokemon Go's popularity. We had some VERY early leaks about the game (like six months before it was officially announced) that confirmed it started life as a console version of Pokemon Go and the idea of turning it into a gen 1 remake came later.

I feel like they'd do Let's Go Pikachu & Togepi and Let's Go Eevee & Pichu. Starters are still Pikachu and Eevee, but the egg at the start of the game hatches into either Togepi or Pichu and you get the option to swap it out as your shouldermon.

Nah, it's going to be Pokemon Legends: Celebi.

Time travel is Celebi's entire shtick and Johto is one of the most historic regeons in Pokemon. The towers of Ecruteak and Violet city, Mahogany being an ancient ninja hideout, Slowpoke Well and the drought, the fucking Ruins of Alph.

Hell, the tower Goldenrod! They said they tore down an old and creaky tower to build the Radio Tower and found Suicune's bell under it in Crystal. Never really mentioned again.

Pichu is clearly there to replace Pikachu from LGPE and Togepi is there because it's an iconic gen 2 normal type (like Eevee in gen 1) that also looks like a baby to kinda match Pichu.

Because they tie into things introduced in gen 2 well with friendship evolutions and day and night with evolutions depending on the time. This only matters if they actually let you evolve them, though. You have the kimono sisters. They could do more with them if they wanted. Both espeon and umbreon are popular as well.
