Red already has two forms in the games, so this would be fine. In the mega timeline (see SM and LGPE), Red adventures earlier and doesn’t fight Team Rocket.

to make it even more confusing, silver (giovanni's son) did cameo in a johto anime special, so hypothetically he could have appeared in the show proper. but that was before he was confirmed to even be related to giovanni at all, iirc, so if he did end up in the anime, that would have made shit even more awkward and confusing

we got this retarded timeline where the anime was based on the games but the anime got a lot of popularity and ash was actually beloved back then, so they made pokemon yellow as a third version based on the anime, and for all that matters Yellow is the canon version of the games if we look at Red's team in most games, so kinda, yeah.
