Naaah, it's a trusted seller and it's a missprint that I have already seen even in English cards as well (even in a sealed Base Set Machamp irl).

I'm not sure how it works, but if it's all printed at the same time, it could be a printing issue.
It'd be logical they print out everything at once instead of printing the borders afterwards.

IMHO the silver borders on the new English cards will be looking great, though I will surely miss the yellow borders.
I hope our exs will look as stunning as the Japanese ones, but I'm afraid they won't.

According to PokéBeach (https://www.pokebeach.com/2022/12/scarlet-violet-english-set-revealed-for-february) there will be 3 holos per pack; I'm excited for this. Hopefully the holofoil will look better this time!

Alright bros I think I'm gonna get serious about this.

Assuming the machine I buy has 4 bays to store cards in, how do you think they should be themed to catch the most eyes.

I'm thinking two bays dedicated to general modern sets, one dedicated to Pokemon Go exclusively for the kiddos and casual fans who want something they recognize, and a rotating bay that I can put seasonal cards like Christmas events and stuff

To those asking about Special Delivery Bidoof. It's significantly more rare than the other two cards. That adds to its price. You had to opt in to special promotional emails and the text was buried within. Then you had to enter a lottery (which not everyone got selected -- like the charizard -- but even more exclusive), then you had to be picked. It was to commemorate the opening of the Canadian Pokemon center site.

On top of that, I heard rumors that TPCi actually RAN OUT of the bidoof cards. So if you placed an order near the end of the eligibility dates with your code, there was a chance that they actually ran out of cards. It's the rarest of the three and will likely be the most expensive.

Make vintage the most expensive to pay for, but give them a chance at a holo or 1st edition card. There's plenty of <$20 holo wotc cards that you can use. Make the holos unlimited, and a few c/uc 1st edition. You may not profit too much off the vintage stuff, but your margins on the modern are huge and can subsidize the vintage.

So I found a 1st edition Base Set Charizard on Craigslist but it’s not on a good part of town. He’s selling it for super cheap, he said $400 but he’s willing to negotiate. Everyone appreciates transparency. If you stick to it (or beat it), then you will gain what is most important in business: trust. If every 10th card is a holo, and every 55 cards or so you throw in an extra holo. People will trust your product and continue to come back and use the machine.

This is probably the most autistic problem someone has ever had with collecting.
So I am collecting base, jungle, and fossil.
With those three sets, you can obtain atleast one of every original 150 Pokémon.
Now to get Mew, I also need to dip into wotc promo cards.
Everythings fine and dandy until card #17 Dark Persian, clearly this is a promo for the rocket set, now I feel I must also add the Rocket set to the collection.
Even worse yet, promo card #19 (Sabrina's Abra) is Gym Heroes set card but clearly cards #20-#28 are base set/jungle or fossil. Then after that the cards follow the neo/ johto card style, so thats clearly the cut off point. Am I gonna have to collect up to gym heroes/ gym challenge to truely complete base set? Or should I just skip Sabrina's abra, I feel like the card format is different enough to justify it but there doesnt seem to be any clear reason to uninclude the rocket set.
Solve my collectism?

Just skip Sabrina's Abra and Gym Heroes/Challenge, they aren't really connected to Base Set in a way. That would make collecting easier and cheaper for you too.
If you'd really want to collect Gym Heroes/Challenge and that's no problem for you either, then I say: go for it!

I wouldn't do that personally, it's just a waste of time and money. You're going to collect everything again and again, I think that's going to be more exhausting than exciting IMHO. Start doing 1st editions from the start or don't. (IMO 1st editions are overrated and not worth bothering unless you really, really want a complete 1st ed. set, it only adds a small stamp, which doesn't always look good, and that feeling of ""exclusivity"").
Instead of collecting shadowless/1st ed. cards, you could start with Neo/Johto, those cards look awesome, even better than Base/Jungle/Fossil.

Blackstars 1-28 are definately base set.

Prefixes such as "Dark" werent used until Rocket Set.
Prefixes such as "Cool", "Flying", "Surfing", "_______'s" and potentially "Team Rocket's" could fall under the Rocket Set.
Team Rocket's Meowth doesnt use the same card configuration as the Gym series. Which Sabrina's Abra does within the Blackstar Promos.
The point i'm trying to make is Gym Sets, and Rocket Set are interwinded into baseset through the Blackstar promo cards. Keep in mind, no Johto mons show up until neo.
So Base, Jungle, Fossil, Rocket, Gyms, and 1-28 of blackstar are all generation one. But you could consider rocket & gyms an expansion.

Maybe a stupid question but when you browse individual cards at a card store, they're often sleeved or in a toploader. If you buy a card, do they give you the sleeve/toploader with it or do they take the card out and give you only the card?

If you want to roll high, Evolving Skies. In the off chance that you pull something very rare, it's a high chance that it's a very desirable rare thanks to the fat stack of eeveelutions and fug.

Otherwise if you just want a good chance of pulling something moderate, anything with a trainer gallery. Brilliant Stars, Astral Radiance, Lost Origin, Silver Tempest; any of these will give you a chance to pull a radiant and/or trainer gallery card on top of the usual rare. Otherwise you could always wait for Crown Zenith next month which is looking to be stacked with pretty cards.

I mean definitely don't buy them if you don't like them. Sure some cards go for 1, 2, 10k but for the most part everything else isn't worth it. Plus they're harder to find because they usually only sell a few blasters at retail. So if you don't have any attachment to the IP, I have to ask, why? I like them because i've always had an attachment to Marvel (comics) since I was a kid and now that i'm a card pack opening gambling addict they were right down my alley

Almost certainly. I would only buy a psa 6-7 card with the intention of cracking and putting in my binder. Most of the time the 6-7 just have a bad corner or whitening on some edges. But if the surface and holo is solid, it's well worth it. Most """"""nm""""" raw cards are LP at best and you'd be lucky to grade an 8 on them.

Most people will call any raw card with whitening LP instead of nm. But if you submit that card for grading you'll likely get a 7 or better if it's just one or two small whitened corners. Not sure what you're trying to prove by being so pedantic that you intentionally argue a bad point.

CGC also calls 6 nm too.

I just found out that a friend of mine sells Pokemon cards "inked" to cover small white spots on the borders as "Near Mint" and it's literally indistinguishable to the naked eye (not even smeared on the edges).
I'm starting to question my card collection and think if gradingfag was right to slab and get professionally graded his cards.

People have put fake 1st ed stamps on cards that were sent through PSA and graded. There's currently a service that is somehow removing scratches on old holofoils, and they also get through grading services.

Unless you pulled it yourself, nothing is safe from being doctored. But does it really matter? If it's indistinguishable, even to "professionals," why care?

kek, lmao. It's ink. It soaks into the card itself. Your fingertips don't have the resolution to be able to distinguish things on that scale. The card text and attacks are also printed on top of the card, but you can't feel that if you run your finger over it either.

I'd say there are probably a large amount of indistinguishable fakes on the market. Whenever you have profit margins high as fuck for a stamp you know shit will be faked. I wouldnt be surprised if faked cards dominate the market at a certain point. They could just start putting serial numbers and bar codes on cards if they actually cared.
