I stopped counting a while ago but I think mareep, lechonk, tarountula, hoppip and fletchling have probably all been more common than quaxly, too. makes me wish I bred my quaxly instead of charmander.
I don't know which starter is better competitively (read conflicting reports on here) but competitive breeding might be a determining factor. I've gotten many unaware fuecoco and only one protean sprigatito
