Haven't played Scarlet and Violet yet, just way too broken to support for $60. I would only play it heavily discounted or maybe emulate, but honestly I don't even care that much to play it.

Was playing Blaze black 2 redux. Just before that city gets turned into ice etc.
Got tired of keeping track of EVs, getting the right nature/ability and other shit. Also cant decide what pokemon to use so i keep switching them around. Most HMs got removed in the game thankfully but still need waterfall, flying and surf sometimes.

I'm casual as hell. I've only played two mainline games—Red and Silver. I beat Red, but I don't think I even reached the first gym in Silver. Overall, I think my last game was Stadium 2. Everything I know about the games and lore comes from wikis. I've always been more of an anime-only fan.

Sun/Moon. XY was garbage with the cutscenes, model quality, same animations, no difficulty, and no postgame and I was in the middle of Sun/Moon doing the same garbage and realized Pokemon wasn't going to get any better

It was so bad I still can't believe it years later. I played through fucking YIIK and not even that was nearly as frustrating to play through as SM.

Stopped playing seriously after X/Y, I bought Sun/Moon and never finished it, never finished Arceus and I’m currently sitting at the first gym in ScaVio waiting for a performance patch.
Still play the older games a fair bit though

SM. By that point I was sick of death of the stagnant, rotting pokemon formula and ready to jump ship, but Lillie was a top tier girl and the game looked to be somewhat plot driven this time instead of yet another gym circuit, so I stuck it out. In the end it was a nice enough swan song, and I haven't touched a pokemon game since.

I originally stopped at gen.5. I hated this game so much.
Then I played gen 6 to 8 through nuzzlockes in a emulator this year. It was a ok experience.
I have sv but it's so disgusting that I never managed to play it after seeing the gay duck and tranny pandering. I totally hate those people.
So either gen 5 or sv.

The visual style was unbearable. The sprites in gen 5 were lame but they had the right idea with making them move. I thought we were going to get some amazing spritework eventually.

Because the cutscenes looked better for their time while being part of a better story and not bothering me as much, the model quality was better for the era and console with better-looking sprites, the battles were snappier, the difficulty was higher, and the postgame had more things to do. Basically exactly what the other anon said.

Stopped for a while after BW2 because I didn't like the look of X/Y and didn't want to spend money on it. I tried Y about 4 years ago because I wanted to get back into pokemon and I could play it for free since my brother owned it. I was incredibly unimpressed and stopped playing as soon as I beat the league.
Told myself I would never play nupokemon again, but ended up pirating Scarlet and playing it on an emulator after a friend talked me into it. Still a very disappointing game and it convinced me I was right to not pay for any of the new games.

Didn't finish Y and gave up a couple of hours after starting Sun. I still play Pokémon but only the GB/GBA/DS games, either mainline or some very vanilla hacks. I sometimes go back to the TCG games and the pinball ones,as well.
