How good do you think the female will be? Since it's more special based, I can see it rely on Adaptability for heavy hits. Or do you think people will run it with Last Respect despite it's attack being 10 less points?

I think it's interesting that they probably planned last respects for single player and doubles, not really thinking about people actually playing 1v1 with a full team of six. They have a bad habit of designing things around their main competitive format (doubles) and not really thinking or trying to balance out singles. That move is way less dangerous in a VGC format where the base power can't jump as high and you don't have as many team support options to support Houndstone sweeping. Same for Annihilape

People are sleeping on this thing. I've been catching people off guard by sending it out to get hit by a resisted attack, then smacking them back with terrain pulse, earth power or just setting up leech seed/strength sap and forcing a switch. Leech is fun if they stay in too because with leftovers, leech seed and terrain I'm healing back most damage. I've run both seed and sap at the same time for extra annoyance too. And people forget this thing is part normal which is convenient. They never think it will block their shadow balls

Basculin isn't even that bad, it's just unremarkable compared to the litany of other physical mono-waters. Banded Tera-Ghost is going to 2HKO both Toxapex and Corviknight at only 3 dead allies. Non-Tera doesn't OHKO even at 300, but it's fast enough to make sure walls can't recover the damage.

they banned houndstone because it was the only user of last respects and once basculegion drops theyre unbanning houndstone and THEN banning the move. its kind of retarded because everyone knows last respects is the problem, even the ou council, but i guess they have to adhere to "even though we know last respects is busted, since its only on houndstone we cant prove last respects is broken cause theres no other mons that have it to compare it to."
