>>52803443If you think I'm about to let a basement-dwelling 4chan prisoner try to school me on what I study for a living, then you have another thing coming. Look, the target demo has very little to do with who's ACTUALLY buying these games in this instance. Barbie games are targeted towards little girls who do play with dolls anymore, and yet dozens of 30-something-year-old male YouTubers purchase them for their "let's plays."
Now, a company may adjust their strategies to the actual buyers, but that is NOT the case here with Pokemon because you autists buy the games regardless. The franchise was designed for children to outgrow it and make way for the next set of toddlers, not granddads who jerk off to Umbreon plushies on the sewer of the clearnet.
TPCi and GF's entire marketing strategy is extremely kiddy and autist coded. All their Directs are bright, colorful, and light and accompanied by a gentle tutorial voice carefully describing and guiding the child through what's happening on-screen. The games feature easily digestible plots, lengthy tutorials, one-dimensional characters, toyetic designs, etc. "Kanto pandering" is a retarded meme, and it's relatively minimal in their ad campaigns, unless you count Pikachu and Eevee which are mascots. Its inclusion has little to do with attracting grandpas.
Pokemon is and always will be a child's franchise. It doesn't matter what your fanfic meta says or whatever bullshit you come up with to try to make it otherwise. It's not the end of the world if you enjoy it. YoU lOsE, lardass. L.
