There's probably an influx of new trainers because Santa really hates kids. Regardless, these kids deserve to be made aware about their world of limited possibilities. Little Timmy needs to have the bandage ripped off now rather than in spring 2023 in case they have some past-gen or PoGo shinies they thought they could send over.

If the dex cut didn't kill Pokémon, what will? I'd say actually removing Pokémon altogether would but that probably wouldn't do it either.

no because I wanted to showcase every Pokémon because that would encapsulate enough information for both competitive types or collectors

To make things easier, I grouped by generations and made sure evolution lines didn't get awkwardly wrapped or broken up (i.e. having Politad on the right side of one line and then Poliwhirl on the left of the line below)

Well yeah, most people think the dexcut is that and pokemon is alive.

But it survived the Porygon incident when the franchise wasn't even a fraction of what it became, its basically unbeatable.

Even in gen 9 now, it's still taking a while for people to realize the extended ramifications of the dex cut. Not a lot of people realized how it's made many old Pokémon title exclusives, potentially leaving them stuck in older games at best or leaving them stuck in the cloud at worst

They were explained multiple times back then but they were dissed as harassing.

That said you don't understand them either, as it was already even clarified by Masuda that pokemon are rotated, no one will be permanently stuck.

I meant like "removed/retconned from the franchise as if it never existed to begin with".

And they'll start with the zero-popularity Pokémon like Watchog, then move onto the unpopular Pokémon like Meganium and Aurorus, and eventually make their way to Pokémon like Flygon and Krookodile. You just wait.

but that's not the point of the problem. One of the larger problems is that older games will now basically be holding old 'Mons hostage. It's like artificial incentive to buy every game. I haven't even mentioned the problem with regional evolutions not being easily created and needing transfers in order to obtain them, requiring one to own older games. Nobody ever thinks about it and it's really devious. Like, Kleavor and Ursaluna are currently IN the game, but there are no ways to evolve them because their items are not accessible. Stantler cannot naturally learn Psyshield Bash in SV and requires transferring Wyrdeer from PLA in order to breed Psyshield Bash Stantlers. These problems are piling up

because that sense of wonderment existed in the pre-dex cut era too. But at least those Pokémon were somehow obtainable back then. Action Replay was how I got to discover the wider world when I played og gen 4 (I didn't have a lot to work with back then). But because of the current design philosophy, not THAT'S not even possible because you're limited to practically only what you can find in these games with very few exceptions.

Also, it's really fucking dumb that there's no in-universe explanation to explain, for example, why Infernape can't go to Galar. The only explanation forces you to break your suspension of disbelief that these regions are apart of a bigger and bustling world full of traveling trainers.
