Ice is LITERALLY water. It shouldn't be a seperate type. It's water but colder.

You might as well have a extra hot fire type seperate from fire.

Ice isn't meant to represent Frozen water, its meant to represent coldness. That's why stuff like the Swinub line can be Ice type without relating to water.

Ice should be a physical type of water. Which is exactly what they were to in season 1 and 2 but had to change it because muh Tyranitar and dragon types feefees because all the dragon and dark types were special.

Looking at gen 1 there are no pure rock types, and every one that isn't a fossil is ground as well. So the distinction is rock type pokemon where made out of rock or from fossils.
