Never. They should have just gone the Yugioh Route long ago and have many different types of MC doing one or two league. Shit like Tobias and Alain are the result of prolong usage of Ash and making him lose to keep him going in this journey.

No, Ash got a shit team in that region and it was only redeemed after Ash BTFO of Iris' Mary Sue of a Dragonite with Krookodile. Seriously, Ash had a decent lineup except for Levanny and Unfezant, but evolution was only reserved for shitheads like Trip and dumbasses like Cameron.
