Realistically, what made it so good compared to SV?
Did team A in GF have a more competent group of people? Did they have more time? Did they give Mario Club more time for debugging? Judging by the credtis They've been outsourcing the fuck out of animations and modelling and all that shit, so did they also got lucky with the ones who picked for these jobs as well?

HOW do you make such a good job with PLA and such a terrible one with SV?

You got it twisted. PLA was a linear game that was disguised and advertised as open world. With beyond boring gameplay and mechanics. Meanwhile SV is actually open world and has fun mechanics and gameplay.

NTA but lol, just because there is an open world doesn't make it better. Everything in SV is just things that there are in PLA and in SWSH (raids and mass outbreaks). The only new thing in that trash is auto battles. You never played both games.

saying something is fun is subjective. Every mechanic from PLA that is in SV is a downgrade. Catching is worse and slower again, battling doesn't make contact anymore, mass outbreaks is once per day and you can't control the day-night cycle while you could in PLA just by sleeping. I will say that Arven was a good thing i SV but the entire game isn't. One good character won't save everything,

I'll take that over PLA's battle system. PMD has unironically a more complex and faithful battle system than PLA.
Literally every single battle in the game is a joke, except for the very last one where the game pits you against a 6vs8 because the battle system isn't deep enough to offer an actual challenge

I'll concede on the EV thing but it still expedites leveling up pokemon in general. But everything else stands. Complaining about 30 minute day/night cycle is the epitome of nitpicking and is a non issue. And the contact shit is just aesthetics, which SV makes up for by actually having better graphics. The water for one doesnt look like dog shit the way PLA does lmao

Auto battles just exist to replace the arceus catch mechanic (chain in the mass outbreaks) I understand the exp thing but it's less exp. It's faster battling chanseys or doing raids. They are actually useless.

Single battles in single player, outside of the Battle Frontier, have always been a joke.
PLA ditching most of the mechanics doesn't make a practical difference in the absence of multiplayer. Abilities and held items are very important in multiplayer, and can make a difference in double battles (i.e. Colosseum, XD), but in all the mainline games, most battles are decided (in a few turns) by type advantage and level difference—PLA reducing them to just that doesn't hurt the game. Alpha Pokémon and those of the few trainers in the game also tend to have a number of coverage moves which can catch you off-guard and add a modicum of difficulty (by Pokémon standards), as does getting ganged up on.
