I see people taking about overdesigned Pokémon a lot, so are there any notable underdesigned Pokémon? Ones that have to little going on instead of too much.

There's plenty. The issue is that shills will defend clearly rushed shit because they assume a insult of their favorite gen is a personal insult.

As a example, gen 9 even has a pile of dirty as a pokemon and shills claim is a awesome design.

sunflora. if you've ever watched cartoons for toddlers, like if youve ever babysat your baby cousin or nephew or something, or read picture books for children, you'll know a sunflower with a smiley face drawn on it isn't a very inspired or original design. johtoddlers will call it kino though, because they're just that: toddlers.

Nta but you seem to forget that some things are just meant for fun and discovery. Having some blob shock you by turning into your pokemon is fun. Doesn't need to have a use beyond that moment of discovery/marvel to be good design in a monster discovery game.

Imagine a Pokemon African savannah with heat lines coming off the ground and these, manes fully ablaze, lounging in the hot sun on some kind of pride rock.
I also hate that the color scheme feels like they accidentally made a fucking Houndoom clone and pallete swapped the secondary color last minute to make it look lion-like.

Your feeling about Sunflora are understandable but, while "johtoddler" is the accepted generational term for Gen2 fans, you DO realize that "johtoddlers" are the second oldest people on this board right. If they're toddlers, everyone else are fetuses.

Is it just me or have people in general started to gravitate towards "more is more" recently.
Not just in character design, but plots as well. Around 12 years ago, for instance, everyone wanted Sonic to be simple again, no friends, no melodrama, just Sonic vs. Eggman. Now, the generation that grew up with the dark age games want more characters again with a more serious story. I guess the 20 year nostalgia cycle might be at play here.
